International Women's Day 2021

International Women’s Day on 8 March is a time to recognize women for their social, political and economic achievements. It’s also an opportunity to talk about the need to continue advocating for gender parity. In recognition of this day, Ecolab is looking at our own commitments to improve gender diversity in our organization and celebrating the leaders who advocate for, support and mentor women.

What we’re doing

As part of our 2030 Impact Goals, we’re committed to creating a more diverse, inclusive and purpose-driven team. That includes increasing gender diversity at all levels of our organization. Here’s what we’re doing:

  • Increasing the number of women and Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC): Leaders receive monthly diversity metrics about their teams and report to senior leadership about their progress, their plans for addressing gaps and their differentiated development plans, which promotes equity by providing networking and professional development opportunities for diverse talent.
  • Creating more diverse candidate pools that accurately reflect the market and industry: Last year, our U.S. intern class was made up of more than 250 associates– the representation of women and people of color are on track toward achieving our 2030 Impact Goals with over 50% women in our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs. Today, the team partners with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to identify and attain the best talent for our STEM roles, and we recently committed to a new partnership with Forté Foundation to support, identify and recruit top women graduating with their MBA.
  • Accelerating the advancement of women leaders at Ecolab: E3, our employee resource group supporting the advancement of women in the workplace, leads a global mentorship program that provides members with career guidance, professional development and networking opportunities, and senior leadership exposure. Based on our 2019 employee engagement survey results, E3 members were 21% more likely to get promotions than the average employee.
