Field Trial Findings of a Novel Sulfidogenesis Inhibitory Compound

Biotic production of H2S is a major concern in oil and gas production, and new strategies are necessary to better prevent and mitigate reservoir souring. Lab development of a novel compound over the years has shown much promise towards inhibiting microbial sulfide production and MIC, and this talk investigates the new chemistry’s efficacy in a field trial when applied to an onshore waterflood.

Development of a Versatile Corrosion Inhibitor for Multiple Oil and Gas Operating Environments

The selection of a corrosion inhibitor (CI) is often system dependent because a CI that performs well under one set of conditions may not always do so under another.  Consequently, this often requires operators to have to handle numerous chemical products to treat different fields and/or to replace CIs for the same asset as the field conditions change over time.  Since this can pose challenges to operators from a logistical viewpoint, it is advantageous for a CI to have a wide window of operability in order to help reduce the number of products an operator must manage.  This paper presents data from a range of laboratory tests on the development of a versatile CI product which has been specifically formulated using a unique backbone of chemistries to inhibit carbon steel corrosion in a broad range of sweet and sour operating environments.

Performic Acid for MIC Prevention in Treated Water Systems: Balancing Biocidal Efficacy Against Oxidizer Induced Corrosion

Performic acid (PFA) has been shown as an efficient biocide for water treatment applications due in part to its strong oxidation potential. While this trait makes PFA effective at controlling MIC, it also increases the risk of corrosion at the dosage location. This talk will present findings comparing the biocidal efficacy of formulated PFA against its impact on metal corrosion.
